How to Unlock Loader in Risk of Rain 2

Avid players of Risk of Rain would remember the Loader character as a boy. But in Risk of Rain 2, Loader has been modified into a girl. Of course, she still retains the slowness and power from the first version. Loader uses her grappling hooks and gauntlets to move through battlefields, destroying everything in her path.

Despite being slow, Loader uses total output to deliver high damage to enemies. She also has several other abilities which help her to make up for the slow speed. Using Loader can be very frustrating if you're not familiar with her skills and abilities. This guide will provide you with a list of her abilities and ultimately, how to unload the character.

Loader's Abilities

Loader is equipped with gauntlets and grappling hooks, moving quickly through the battlefield in no time. Below are some of her default abilities and their resulting outcomes.

Scrap Barrier

The Scrap Barrier protects Loader from fall damage. It also allows her to strike enemies with her gauntlets which provides a temporary barrier.

Knuckleboom

By using Knuckleboom, Loader can swing at close-range enemies and deal 320% more damage.

Grapple Fist

When you fire the character's gauntlet forward, it allows you to pull closer to the intended target.

Charged Gauntlet

You can charge up Loader's gauntlets for a piercing punch which deals between 600 to 2700% damage.

M551 Pylon

The Pylon is a special item that zaps up to six nearby enemies and reduces their health by 100%.

Apart from these abilities, Loader has other abilities that you may need to unlock as you progress in the game.

Spiked Fist

Works like Grappl Fist but this time, throwing the gauntlet forward pulls you to heavy targets and pulls light targets towards you. This ability can be unlocked by reaching the Celestial Portal in under 25 minutes while using the Loader character.

Thunder Gauntlet

You can use this ability to charge up a single-target punch that creates shocks which deal 1000% damage to enemies. To unlock this, you need to land a Charged Gauntlet hit at 300 mph or more.

Thunderslam

With this ability, you can slam your fists down and deal 2000% damage on anything it impacts. Unlocking this requires you to kill three Loader's in the Bulwark’s Ambry while using the Loader character.

Thunderslam is arguably the hardest special ability to unlock and you can pass the Thunderdome challenge to easily unlock it.

Additionally, some items work best with the Loader character since it's a melee user. Focus Crystal is one of such items as it increases damages to enemies wishing 13m by 20%. Another item is the Energy Drink which allows Loader to pick up speed. Paul's Goat Hoof also helps Loader to move around quickly, increasing mobility by 14%. This allows Loader to get to various areas with less time than she normally would.

Optional Skin

Just like every other character in the game, the Loader has another skin you can change into. This skin is called Classic and still retains the same color as the original Loader in the first edition of Risk of Rain. You can unlock this skin by beating the game or obliterating on Monsoon mode.

How To Unlock Loader Character in Risk of Rain 2

Unlocking Loader takes a lot of determination and patience. You need to complete the Guidance Offline Challenge. Here, you have to defeat the Alloy Worship Unit in Siren's Call, get the boss to spawn and kill it. Afterwards, the Loader character will unlock by default.

However, completing this challenge is difficult because there's little information available about it in the logbook. The logbook only tells you to defeat a unique guardian in Siren's Call and doesn't explain the steps to take before the guardian will spawn.

If you’ve searched for the Guidance Offline challenge in the log book, you’ll know that its description is vague. It only says that you need to defeat the unique guardian in Siren’s Call. What it doesn’t say is that you’ll need to complete a certain procedure before the boss will spawn.

Here’s how to complete the Guidance Offline challenge and unlock Loader:

• Make sure you reach Siren’s Call which is located in the fourth stage of the loop, after Rallypoint Delta or Scorches Acres.
• Here, you must find small nests with eggs.
• Destroy five of these nests and the Alloy Worship Unit will spawn. You can destroy them manually or fire certain weapons or items towards them.
• Beat the Alloy Worship Unit to complete the Challenge and unlock the Loader character.

Bonus: if you get to the Bazaar Between Time, right after Stage three of the loop, you can use Lunar Coins to get into Siren's Call instantly.

Also, you may not know it but you can unlock Loader without even completing the challenge. The best are all hidden around Siren's Call and they are easy to destroy by some items like Fireworks. By default, the Alloy Worship Unit will spawn once the number of nests has been destroyed.
