How to Unlock Bandit in Risk of Rain 2
The Bandit is among the fun characters to use in Risk of Rain 2. The fast-paced gunslinger needs accuracy and technical skills to overwhelm its enemies because he mainly excels in mid-range and one-on-one combat. Many players like this character because of its special skills. This guide shows how to unlock Bandit, the character’s unique ability and how to use it.
How to Unlock Bandit
Bandit is among the newest additions with the Risk of Rain 2 update. He is featured in the Risk of Rain, and with the update, you can unlock him after completing a challenge. However, if you previously unlocked Huntress, you don't need to go through the whole process since after installing the new update, this survivor becomes available for you. Unlocking the Bandit is simple, and you only need to complete the Warrior’s challenge.
Warriors Challenge
Like every achievement in Risk of Rain 2, this challenge requires you to complete a task in a particular way. To achieve this challenge, players must reach the third stage and complete the Teleporter event. The difficult part of the challenge is that you cannot die in the process, which means you must continue your run to the Teleporter event.
Items like Dio’s Best Friend, which can revive you after death, are useless in this instance because immediately you die, the challenge ends. After the challenge, you must have unlocked Bandit, which means he is available on your select screen.
Bandit’s Abilities
Bandit has a hard playstyle and the key to utilizing him is making the most of his abilities. This character uses a short gun and features a unique Western theme in the game. The short gun is his basic attacking ability, and it deals large damage to the enemy. His abilities include;
- Backstab: This passive ability of the character makes all his attacks from behind result in critical strikes.
- Burst: This is the primary ability of the survivor, and it fires a shotgun burst for 5×100% damage. The move can contain up to 4 shells.
- Serrated Dagger: This secondary ability allows the survivor to lunge and slash for 360% damage. It can result in hemorrhaging when the character lands critical strikes.
- Smoke Bomb: This utility ability stuns the enemy and deals 200% damage before the character goes invisible and deals 200% damage again.
- Lights Out: This special ability fires a revolver shot that deals 600% damage. This move can take down a boss and it resets all cooldowns if it kills the enemy successfully.
- Blast: This primary ability shoots a rifle blast that deals 330% damage to the enemy. The rifle can contain up to 4 bullets.
- Serrated Shiv: This secondary ability throws hidden blades that deal 240% damage to the enemy. Its critical strikes can also lead to hemorrhaging.
- Desperado: This special ability fires a revolver shot that deals 600% damage. Its kills give stacking tokens that deal with 10% more desperado damage.
Unlocking Bandit’s Alternate Abilities
Bandit's unique abilities are devastating to enemies. After unlocking the character, you must complete some challenges to unlock his special abilities. The special skills and their challenge include;
- Blast (Classic Man challenge)
- Serrated Shiv (Sadist challenge)
- Desperado (B&E challenge)
Bandit: Classic Man Challenge
You can unlock Bandit's alternate ability, Blast, by successfully completing the Classic Man challenge. This challenge requires players to use the special ability Lights Out to reset their cooldowns 15 times in a row. Before beginning this challenge we recommend the Artifact of Soul to help you complete the challenge quickly. This equipment spawns Wisps, which gives easy one-shot hits with Lights Out.
Another important tip for completing this challenge is collecting Crowbars, as this equipment can increase Lights Out damage against close-range enemies. However, to make it easier, the game allows you to use other strikes when using the Lights Out to kill enemies. But you should be careful to ensure that Lights Out kills the enemy when you use it because if you fail to reset your cooldowns with a strike from Lights Out, then the challenge begins again.
Bandit: Sadist Challenge
To unlock the Bandit's secondary ability, Serrated Shiv, you must complete the Sadist Challenge. The way to complete this challenge is to use Bandit to kill an enemy with 20 stacks of hemorrhage. Hemorrhage is a defect caused by the Serrated Dagger ability when it lands critical strikes. However, this challenge poses its set of difficulties as the Serrated Dagger has a four-second cooldown with one charge, and the effect lasts for only 15 seconds.
Also, most enemies die before you can apply the 20 stacks. If you want to complete this challenge, we recommend setting the difficulty to the Monsoon to ensure that the enemies are tanky when fighting against them. After setting the difficulty, head to the Bazaar Between Worlds and collect three purities to your cooldown on the Serrated Dagger to 0.5 seconds. Also, collect as many backup magazines as you can find, then proceed to fight the next boss.
Bandit: B&E Achievement
To unlock Desperado, you have to complete the B&E challenge. The achievement requires you to kill the final boss, Mithrix, with the Lights Out special ability. If you want to finish this challenge fast and easy, we recommend setting the difficulty to Drizzle. Next, you will need the Artifact of Command to allow you to choose your items.
Select the Artifact of Swarms to reduce Mithrix’s health by 50% but he will have a doppelganger, and the Artifact of Glass to deal 500% damage. The equipment you may need are Crowbars and armor-piercing rounds. Also, you need to avoid all “On Hit” items for this battle to ensure you end the battle with Lights Out. After killing Mithrix, you must have completed the B&E challenge and unlocked Desperado.
