How To Beat Risk of Rain 2
How To Beat Risk of Rain 2
The first Risk of Rain game finished in a relatively simplistic manner, but its sequel goes above and beyond by adding true endings and a final boss for you to test your capabilities on. In Risk of Rain 2, runs do not fizzle out whenever you feel like stopping anymore; instead, you can try to push for climactic battles or select other routes for an equally intriguing, albeit different, way to end your run.
The game offers two official endings. One sees you defeating Mithrix, the terrifying last boss on the Moon of Petrichor V, and the other has you self-obliterating at an Obelisk. Both have their rewards, but only one true ending exists, and it is the one attained by defeating Mithrix.
This guide will highlight how to get both of these endings. We will even point out a hidden third option for the completionists.
How To Beat Risk of Rain 2 (Officially)
Defeat the Final Boss Mithrix

Make Your Own Risk of Rain 2 Server
Officially, the most popular way to beat Risk of Rain 2 is to defeat the final boss, who is called Mithrix, the King of Nothing. While this boss was not in the first version of the game, his inclusion in the latest version made him an apex opponent.
To reach Mithrix, you must first find a Primordial Teleporter. The first time you'll see this is in Sky Meadow on Stage 5. These portals look like normal teleporters, but with two horn-like shapes with a ring of angular protrusions.
After activating the Primordial Teleporter, you have to complete a challenge called the Teleporter Event. Completing this will take you to the Moon of Petrichor V. The area is also known as Commencement, and it contains powerful enemies called Lunar Chimera.
While this area is rather unique, it is literally a barren wasteland. There are no treasures here except the Item Cauldron, which is just like those you must have seen in the Bazaar Between
Time. The downside to choosing any of these items is that it randomly takes away five other items from your inventory. Except, of course, you have an Item Scrap from a Scrap Machine.
After fighting your way through the Lunar Chimera, you'll discover a large circular arena with a dark portal right in the middle. This is where Mithrix will spawn from, and thus, your fight begins. You have to defeat him in a four-round fight, after which you will have a few minutes to leave the entire area.
Should you fail to reach the ship on time, your character dies, and the game is over. But if you reach the shop before the timer stops, the end scenes and credits will start rolling. And just like that, you have beaten Risk of Rain 2!
Obliterate Yourself at the Obelisk

In the first version of Risk of Rain, the only way to end the game was to get to the obelisk and perform something called Obliteration. Risk of Rain 2 still retains this ending but with a unique twist. Instead of beating the game, you get a message from a black screen which tells you that your gate remains unknown. So, how do you get to this ending?
First, you'll have to find a Celestial Portal. These portals will appear on the third Stage after your first loop. That is, you'll find them in Stage 8, Stage 13, Stage 18, and so on in multiples of five. Once you get to the end of any of these stages, you have to complete the Teleporter Event and step into the Celestial Portal when it pops up.
You'll find yourself in a place called A Moment, Fractured after getting out on the other side. A few feet away from you, there'll be an Obelisk waiting. You have to jump down a series of
floating rocks that will emerge once you approach them. Upon reaching the Obelisk, interact with it twice to obliterate your character. This will end your run and take you back to the main menu.
On the other hand, there's another way to achieve Obliteration. But to do that, you need an item called the Beads I'd Fealty. Once you have this item in your inventory, it will take you to a place
called A Moment, Whole after interacting with the Obelisk.
Just like Commencement, this is also a wasteland. But here, there is a secret boss called a Twisted Scavenger. He's one of four such characters made available in the game. With a massive amount of health, this enemy also possesses 30 different items to battle with. As expected, he is a very tough boss to beat, but when you do defeat him, you get rewarded with a Scavenger's Sack, which contains ten Lunar Coins. Now, this style doesn't have the normal game ending you'd expect, but it rewards you for your effort.
How to Beat Risk of Rain 2 (Unofficial)
Like any other game, Risk of Rain 2 is packed with techniques that players claim bend its rules. One of the more bizarre “endings” is not about bosses, or completing objectives, or actually, completing the run at all. It’s more about breaking the game. It is as if the game is begging for chaos. It welcomes it. Stacking items that are not supposed to be combined, spamming almost all of the skills at once, and layering special effects to the point
where the mechanic is overloaded with actions almost guarantees a crash. Some players have taken it upon themselves to dub this as an “unofficial ending” to the game.
The wilder the glitch, the better the thrill, as the saying goes. And even though this is what most players have agreed to, there is still a more productive way to finish the game, and that is to
defeat Mithrix and claim the true ending.
