Who is Zoe in Palworld?

Before we begin looking at how to recruit her onto your team, it’s first worth mentioning briefly who Zoe actually is in Palworld. Well, Zoe is the leader of the Rayne Syndicate, first encountered atop the Rayne Tower. As a boss enemy, you’ll need to defeat her before you’ll be able to progress with any of her story or missions. After her boss fight, she reappears as a recruitable ally at the Desolate Church. Partnered with her companion Pal, Grizzbolt, recruiting them adds some serious firepower to your roster. Zoe was introduced in the Tides of Terraria Palworld update, so if you haven’t updated your game recently, you may need to do so before she’ll be unlockable.

How to Recruit Zoe in Palworld

At the start of the update, Zoe is only available as an enemy, and you won’t even be able to attempt to recruit her to your team until you’ve defeated her in a boss fight. This is a pretty tricky fight, and it’s recommended that you and your main Pal are at least Level 15 before even attempting it (ideally higher still).

Once you have defeated her and Grizzbolt, you’ll then be able to unlock her as a recruitable NPC. She won’t just join your team immediately, though; you’ll need to do a few missions for her first! After you have defeated her as a boss, Zoe will reappear at the Desolate Church (which can be found just to the northwest of the tower). Traveling to the Church and talking to her here initiates the first of three missions that you’ll need to embark upon in order to impress her enough to join your team.

1 Capture a Grizzbolt

First of all, she’ll want to see that you are able to capture a Grizzbolt. This is pretty easy, as there are plenty to be found in the Wildlife Sanctuary #1, which can be located to the southwest; alternatively, if you’ve already captured one during your travels, you can summon it during your dialogue to automatically complete the quest. In other words - don’t forget to capture one on your way to talking to her, if possible (it’ll streamline things a lot!)

2 Defeat the Free Pal Alliance

Next, Zoe asks you to take on the Free Pal Alliance. Once again, you won’t need to travel too far; head northwest of the church to find these hostile NPCs. You don’t necessarily need to defeat them; capturing them also works. Then, return to Zoe to continue on with her missions.

3 Collect Zoe’s Sentimental Memento Blanket

For the third and final mission, things take a slightly different turn, with a more sentimental Zoe wanting you to recover an old blanket from the Fort Ruins, located east of the church. This fetch quest ends with a heartfelt moment—returning the blanket allows her to open up and join you as a team member. Fortunately, all three of these missions are pretty easy to complete, and mainly just involve a little bit of time for travel here and there. Perhaps the trickiest of the missions is defeating the five Free Pal Team members, but even then, it’s not too taxing overall. Once all three missions are complete, Zoe offers to join you with Grizzbolt by her side.
