Attention, heroes! World of Warcraft has finally answered the call. The Plunderstorm Trios feature is back for the event’s second run. After mysteriously vanishing when the mode relaunched on January 14, Blizzard has now reinstated three-player chaos, letting players queue up with friends (or let matchmaking do the work) until the event ends around February 18.
For those new to the seas, Plunderstorm is WoW’s pirate-themed battle royale, first introduced in 2024. While Solo and Duo modes have been available, fans were baffled when Trios didn’t return immediately. Now, the long-awaited fix means bigger brawls, more Plunder, and some wild high-seas action. What’s different about Trios? Unlike Solo and Duo matches, Trios games feature 20 teams, giving players more breathing room to power up before clashing with enemy crews. The extra teammate also makes strategic revives easier, turning near defeats into epic comebacks.
Why did Blizzard delay Trios in the first place? No official answer yet, but it could have been technical issues with new Plunderstorm Trios features, like the Plunderstore and Practice Lobby. Whatever the reason, fans are just happy it’s back.
And if you’re craving some high-stakes action, don’t miss the Plunderstorm Creator Royale on January 25 at 10 AM PST. Thirty teams of top WoW creators will battle for glory and a $50,000 prize pool—watch it live on YouTube and Twitch.
So, gather your crew—Plunderstorm Trios is back, and the loot won’t claim itself!
