If you love giant mechs and chaotic multiplayer action, you’ve probably seen the Mecha BREAK demo tearing up Steam’s charts. The third-person shooter from Amazing Seasun Games just launched its Global Storm open beta on February 23, 2025, and within hours, the player count skyrocketed. According to SteamDB, the demo hit a peak of 317,000 concurrent players just four hours after launch, making it one of the most-played games on Steam at the time.
That’s right—Mecha BREAK was sitting pretty in the number four spot, right behind Counter-Strike 2, PUBG, and Dota 2. It even edged out Marvel Rivals, which is no small feat. But while the numbers are impressive, not all pilots are having a great time.
The demo’s Steam reviews have been rough, with only 24% positive ratings out of 2,500+ reviews. The biggest complaints? A sluggish and painfully long tutorial, clunky AI battles, and the game’s use of Kernel Level anti-cheat, which some players aren’t happy about. On top of that, bugs and performance issues have left many frustrated.
That said, some players are loving the high-speed mech combat, comparing it to Titanfall, Armored Core, and Gundam. The big question now—can Amazing Seasun Games fine-tune the experience before Mecha BREAK officially launches this spring? With this much attention, they’ve got both the hype and the heat to get it right.
The game’s reveal at The Game Awards and its Titanfall-style mech combat got gamers hyped to jump in immediately.
Players dislike the long tutorial, anti-cheat software, and bugs, but some still enjoy the fast-paced mech battles.
Hopefully! With this much attention, they’ll need to address complaints fast to keep players invested before full release.
