Marvel fans, grab your shields and set your alarms—Captain America Brave New World is arriving on February 14, but don’t expect to stay in your seats too long. AMC Theatres has revealed the film clocks in at just one hour and 58 minutes, making it the shortest Captain America movie and one of the shortest Marvel films ever.
For context, the previous Cap films were all over two hours, and the MCU’s shortest film, The Marvels (2022), sits at a tight 1 hour and 45 minutes. Brave New World ties with Ant-Man and the Wasp and beats longer epics like Avengers: Endgame, which clocked in at a bladder-busting three hours and one minute.
This film marks a new chapter as Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson takes on the mantle of Captain America following Steve Rogers' retirement. Expect the same grounded espionage vibes that have defined the series, but with fresh twists. Deep-cut Marvel characters are making their way into the spotlight, including The Leader (a tease all the way back from The Incredible Hulk) and the introduction of Captain America Brave New World Red Hulk.
Even though rumors suggest SB movies need multiple rewrites and additional scenes from WWE’s Seth Rollins because of reshoots studios have maintained a shorter runtime which may demonstrate their goal to produce a compact presentation. Whether you’re excited for Anthony Mackie’s first solo outing or curious about how the shorter runtime affects the story, one thing’s for sure: The new Captain America movie contains fewer scenes yet will deliver powerful cinematic impact.
Marvel returns to the basics with the film, which has a totally new ensemble. Mackie's Sam Wilson assumes the role of Captain America, the hero previously played by Chris Evans.
Captain America: Brave New World is the shortest Captain America film in history, lasting 1 hour and 58 minutes.
Avengers: Endgame was, undoubtedly, the longest MCU film, lasting 181 minutes (3 hours and 1 minute).
