Old School RuneScape fans should note down March 20th as it marks the launch of a major development. Jagex introduces Sailing Alpha, which represents the first new skill addition to the game since its launch 17 years ago. This open alpha allows desktop players to spend one week at sea to discover the vast maritime content that the game offers. Mobile users, on the other hand, must postpone their experience since Jagex made the alpha available only on desktop systems at this time.
The community poll of 2023 declared Sailing as the upcoming skill in OSRS, which defeated Shamanism and Taming to secure 24th place. The upcoming skill offers a game-changing experience that lets players direct their vessels across adaptive oceanic zones while they complete tasks involving ship recovery and port responsibilities, as well as participate in the Barracuda Trial. Jagex stated that the alpha stage includes an introduction quest, ship design options, and a modernized world map to improve the seafaring experience.
The developers are committed to refining Sailing more by listening to player's feedback to create a smooth integration between the new feature and the game. The upcoming full skill launch this year depends on alpha results that will guide developers through necessary changes. OSRS takes a significant stride forward with Sailing as this update expands Gielinor while providing new territories for players to discover.
The first-ever new skill receives its week-long test phase in the Sailing Alpha for players.
The alpha phase allows only active desktop users of OSRS to join with their active accounts.
The starter quest joins ship customization and sailing mechanics with open-sea gameplay testing.
The new skill represents a groundbreaking shift in gameplay exploration, which developers introduced 17 years after inactivity.
