Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) could be released on PC as Take-Two Interactive's CEO hinted at it for GTA 6. The game was announced on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, but the PC market is turning out to be more and more relevant in the gaming industry, according to the developers.
During a recent interview with IGN, Zelnick stated that Take-Two is not always one to release their games everywhere simultaneously. According to him, some franchises, like Civilization, are releasing their products immediately on multiple platforms, but Rockstar Games likes to take a staggered release strategy. For example, GTA V debuted on consoles in 2013, followed by its PC version in 2015.
He pointed to the renewed significance of Pc gaming, which can now be liable for as much as 40% of a game's overall sales. This is a complete 180 from what used to be a console market-first-oriented industry. According to him, it is an expansion of PC's role in gaming, and he looks for it to continue.
While there is no official confirmation of GTA 6's PC release, Zelnick's comments mean Take-Two realizes the value of its platform. Rockstar's history of delayed but eventually released PC releases gives GTA 6 fans hope that the series will follow the same pattern.
