Ghost of Yōtei, an exclusive PlayStation 5 title, has been officially announced to release on October 2, 2025. The pre order starts May 2 and there are three editions to choose from. Digital Deluxe ($79.99), Standard ($69.99), and Collector’s Edition ($249.99).

In the newly released story trailer, Atsu is a ronin looking for vengeance against the Yōtei Six, a group that killed her family. The game is set in 1603 AD in rugged surroundings such as the snowy plains and coastal villages of Mount Yōtei in Ezo (modern day Hokkaido), though it doesn't feature any 'towns'. The narrative has a strategic layer in this game as players choose the order in which they come up against the Yōtei Six.

Developed from the ground up for PS5, Ghost of Yōtei will enhance the visuals, dynamic weather, and provide greater fight mechanics, as well as introduce new weapons, including the kusarigama and firearms. The physical goodies packed into the Collector’s Edition include an Atsu’s Ghost Mask replica, a handmade tsuba, and a papercraft Ginkgo Tree centrepiece. Of note is that this edition has a digital game code instead of a physical disc, a phenomenon that has raised some discussions among collectors.

Ghost of Yōtei wants to build on the franchise’s legacy of Ghost of Tsushima with a new story and new gameplay, but retains the core of the series.
