Discussions for a sequel for A Minecraft Movie that is only just hitting cinemas have already begun. It comes as no shock that director Jared Hess would be eager to return to the Overworld given the record-breaking $301 million global opening weekend for the film.

"We teased it in end credits, and the fans have gone crazy for it," Hess noted, referring to the introduction of Alex, a key character in the game. In a post-credits scene, Alex goes back to his old home and meets his friend Steve (voiced by Jack Black), who suggests more possible adventures to come.
