A Minecraft Movie sequel discussions are already happening

Discussions for a sequel for A Minecraft Movie that is only just hitting cinemas have already begun. It comes as no shock that director Jared Hess would be eager to return to the Overworld given the record-breaking $301 million global opening weekend for the film.
Speaking to Deadline, Hess said he is excited to return to the Minecraft world. He observed that the game's large world has lots and lots of things to do that fans could explore in a sequel. "We teased it in end credits, and the fans have gone crazy for it," Hess noted, referring to the introduction of Alex, a key character in the game. In a post-credits scene, Alex goes back to his old home and meets his friend Steve (voiced by Jack Black), who suggests more possible adventures to come.
Hollywood is increasingly interested in video game adaptations, and the film reflects this. The likes of The Super Mario Bros. Movie and The Last of Us have proven that the game-to-film world can do wonders with proper execution. Owing to the popularity of Minecraft’s player base and the film’s success, a sequel seems not only possible but probable.
No official announcements have yet been made regarding the continuation, but joining threads across the winding plotlines is clearly on the table for chapter two.
