Hollow Knight Silksong Trobbio Boss Guide
This fight is as much a hindrance as it is a doorway to further gameplay. The Silksong trobbio boss is between you and the Underworks, and you must contend with his flashy, unhinged moveset before you can proceed further inside. He's as much a performer as an executioner, employing speed, stage deception, and haphazard hazards that keep you on your toes throughout combat.
If you're having trouble with how to beat Trobbio Silksong, this guide will walk you through his whereabouts, best preparation, and phase-by-phase breakdown of his attack and phases.

The Trobbio Silksong region can be found in the bottom-left of the expanded areas of the Citadel, on a platform that looks like an arena for a great spectacle. To access him, you'll first need to complete the fight against the Cogwork Dancers and reach the neighboring cage. By doing this, you'll notice new icons on your map that will guide you to your next target. The first icon you can reasonably obtain is way down in the Underworks. You'll need to crawl through the Vaulting of the Citadel, and then you're at last in The Stage, where Trobbio dramatically enters. It's no coincidence that this fight feels dramatic: the entire fight is staged like a twisted show, with flashy effects, fireworks, and arena traps that suit his showy personality. Before you go into the arena, you should unlock the side route to the left of The Stage. Trobbio will probably kill you at least a time or two while you get used to his attacks, and having this path open saves you time, not having to go all the way back from far-off benches. The closest Bench to the area is the Bellway Bench, which is directly below The Stage. It's just a short walk back into the arena, so it won't be a hassle to keep doing it over and over.
Preparation for the Fight
This fight is Silksong's flashiest and most brutal at this point in the game, so it's worth entering prepared. Here's what worked best for me during my fights: Crests and Tools: The Enhanced Hunter Crest is a lifesaver in this situation with its range and speed. Trobbio's non-stop movement makes having a setup that lets you tag him in mid-motion necessary. Use this in conjunction with the Sting Shards for ranged damage and the Drill or Boomerangs. The drill excels at punishing his tornado spin, and the boomerangs are useful if you'd prefer to remain at range.
Survivability: Warding Bell rescues you from a fatal blow when attempting to heal, and Weavelight relaxes Silk recovery for additional healing casts. Weapon Upgrades: You ought to ideally have at least two nail upgrades while battling him. A third one is an option now, but comes with the long, grind-filled quest associated with it. If you found long, grindful quests difficult to handle in the last game, you can opt for two and master Trobbio's patterns instead.
Mask Shards and Silk Spools: Extra health and Silk bars make a big difference. If you’re struggling, it’s worth exploring the overworld to gather a few more upgrades before tackling him again.
Trobbio Boss Fight Walkthrough
The Opening
Trobbio doesn't play games. Once fighting begins, he attempts to hurt you during his intro cutscene. Keep out of the way, close enough to punish him when he approaches, but far enough that you don't needlessly take damage. Phase One – Tornado Spins and Stage Tricks Trobbio's special attack is his tornado spin. He initiates this either on the ground or flying, spinning very quickly until he collides with a wall. When he bounces off, he unleashes two small tornadoes that pass across the arena. This is a great opportunity to counter him. If you’re using the drill, this is your golden moment. Dash above him as he slows down, then drill straight into him. Done correctly, you’ll land every hit of the drill while avoiding retaliation. If you’re not running the drill, simply wait for the tornadoes to disperse before landing a few safe nail strikes.

Trobbio also likes mid-air jumping. Sometimes this is harmless, giving you a few seconds to heal or resituate. But sometimes he transitions into attacks like bouncing explosive spheres across the arena. These spheres are extremely lethal: approaching them is worth two masks of health, and their explosions can rip through your life bar in seconds. When you see them, disengage. Stay defensive until all the orbs have detonated.
Another is when Trobbio ducks underneath floorboards. Take note of where he disappears to, as he will suddenly reappear. If he suddenly pops back up onto the stage level, it is a time to punish him with the drill or some swift stab slash attacks, but be cautious, as sometimes this sends him into a flying attack. If he remains underground, he will fire bombs up. Keep a distance to avoid being within their blast range and make use of this idle time to recover. Sometimes, fireworks erupt out of the ground. Red smoke indicates where the booms will occur. Don't stand in those areas, then wait for the final firework, because Trobbio always comes out of that one, soaring up and providing an opportunity to score hits. Last but not least, Trobbio can raise his arms and call down spheres of sparkles in the arena. These blow up almost instantly, leaving the stage a killing field. The best thing to do is to run for the openest spot, or, in a pinch, in between heels, squeeze while keeping yourself out of the sparkles' reach.
Phase Transitions – Quicker and Deadlier
Every time the stage goes red, Trobbio enters a new stage. Unlike some bosses, his moveset does not drastically change; instead, his existing attacks occur more frequently, and he begins to string them together. For example, he may throw explosive balls upon finishing a tornado spin or trigger sparkles when ducking under the floor. These combinations are what make later stages so dangerous. Your best survival strategy here is to be patient: do not overinvest in destruction, step back, and use Sting Shards or ranged gear when opportunities look too risky. Whenever he staggers, resist the urge to heal. This is the best window to go all-out with damage. Land a drill or throw Sting Shards, then follow up with rapid nail strikes. A full stagger punish usually refills your Silk bar, so you’ll be able to heal later anyway.
The Finale
As the fight goes on, Trobbio's acting gets wilder. He mixes up fireworks, sparkles, tornado spin, and floor dives into insane combos that can bury careless players. The secret is staying cool and observing his tells. Every flashy move has a tell: the red smoke for fireworks, the grunt before sparkles, the whirl sound on his tornado spin. With these tells learned, you can respond naturally to counter them. Eventually, relentless pressure will push him to the breaking point. After his last fall, Trobbio crashes spectacularly, crawling onto the stage statue before falling for keeps. The crowd is gone, but the show is over.
Rewards and Aftermath

Defeating the Silksong Trobbio boss allows you to enter the rest of the Underworks. You'll also get a new weapon: a mirror that serves a similar purpose to the Stun Spore ability in the first Hollow Knight, giving you new ways to fight and personalize your combat approach. This victory is not another checkmark on your path. Trobbio is a true mid-game skill test, as you must handle quick attacks, environmental hazards, and random combos. Mastering how to kill Trobbio in Silksong is all about mastering adaptability, reading his flair for the dramatic, and bullying him on cooldowns.
Closing Thoughts
The Trobbio Silksong phase makes him unavoidable, and his fight is the showiest spectacle in the game. His showman's style hides lethal mechanics, but with forethought, diligence, and cunning, Hornet can cut through the chaos and close down his performance. After he's defeated, the Underworks open up to new ground, gear, and obstacles that push you further into Hollow Knight Silksong. Piercing him while he's mid-spin or kiting him at a distance patiently, defeating Trobbio proves you're ready for the increasingly brutal gauntlet ahead, deeper in Pharloom.
