This guide will help you locate and take down Ivy, the Poisonous Mass, one of the strongest bosses, located in the Azeos' Wilderness biome within Core Keeper.
Locating Ivy the Poisonous Mass
Ivy is situated in the Azeos' Wilderness biome, which is hidden behind a magical divining wall. To enter this biome, different tasks need to be done:
- Defeat Glurch the Abominable Mass.
- Defeat Ghorm the Devourer.
- Defeat the Hive Mother.
Reactivate the Core by placing each boss's gem into their respective statues.
Talk to the Core to unlock the magical wall.
After unlocking the Azeos' Wilderness, finding Ivy will possibly be a little tough since her location cannot be scanned. You'll once again have to go through the biome, listening for the distinct thumping sound from Ivy's incessant jumping, much like how you found Glurch earlier in the game.

Preparing for the Ivy Boss Fight
The Ivy fight is challenging, mainly due to the poison debuffs that significantly reduce your healing abilities. Proper preparation is essential to your success.
Essential Equipment: Wear the Grub Egg Necklace—from Hive Mother—and the Larva Ring—from enemies in Clay Caves biome. With this setup, slime won't slow you down, and with that, you can dodge Ivy's Attacks. You will also want to cook Hearty Pepper Wraps for increased speed.
Armour and Weapons: Walkthrough The Scarlet armour and Scarlet sword are to be crafted for peak defence and attacks. You must also have a ranged weapon; the Grubzooka is strongly recommended since it has penetrating projectiles that will prove very helpful. This is crafted from materials obtained in the Core after defeating the Hive Mother.
Healing: Although Healing Potions can be useful, the poison slime’s debuff drastically reduces its effectiveness. Focus more on avoiding damage than on healing.
Setting Up the Arena
Unlike other bosses, Ivy doesn’t attack until you get close. Use this to your advantage by setting up the arena before the battle:
Create a room at least 50 blocks away from the arena, containing a bed. When you die, you will want to respawn quickly and not lose time running back from the Core.
Widen the Arena: Allow Ivy to destroy her walls by luring her into the walls of the arena. Then, back away when it is adequately widened and set torches along its edges for significant improvement in peripheral vision. If Poison Slimes appear, kill them off to prevent swarming while the fight is on.
Strategies for Defeating Ivy
Melee + Ranged Combat: Start off with some melee hits to Ivy, then retreat so she doesn't jump on over to you. Later in the battle, Ivy will spawn loads of Poison Slimes. At this point, switch to the Grubzooka and focus on ranged attacks. The Grubzooka's piercing shots make hitting Ivy much easier, thanks to the crowds of slimes.
Pure Ranged Combat: You can alternatively take a purely ranged attack approach. Though a little slower, this is much safer since most of Ivy's attacks are Avoided just by keeping your distance.
Explosives: While using explosives might be within reach, it's pretty risky. The price in resources is high, not to mention that if you fail, you are going to gather materials and have to try again, which may not be worthwhile.
Summoning Ivy Again
The upside of this is that, after defeating Ivy, you can summon her again by putting a Giant Slime Summoning Idol on Glurch's summoning rune. You can buy this idol from the Backpack Merchant for 500 Ancient Coins.
What's intriguing about this is that it's the same item you use to summon Glurch, likely the very first boss you defeated in the game. More slim bosses could be added in future updates.
