One of the core points of interest for many Avowed players has to be the mystery surrounding the world itself - and as such, unlocking ancient memories is a key focus. However, finding all of the core memories isn’t always that easy as each is relatively well hidden and can take a lot of exploration to find as standard. Fortunately, today, we’ve outlined all of the Ancient Memory locations in Avowed to help you plan your game and unlock all of the secrets the story has to offer. Plus, since each Ancient Memory also unlocks a new Godlike Ability, there are plenty of reasons to take the time out of your regular game to find these memories.
Before looking at where to find all of the Ancient Memories in Avowed, it’s worth noting what these are and how to identify them in your game. In terms of appearance, Ancient Memories are small floating wisps that give off a large amount of coloured light. When you get close to an Ancient Memory, it will often appear like a star directly in front of you. Ancient Memories, as the name would suggest, unlock unique memories that provide a large amount of lore about the game. In addition, they also unlock Godlike Abilities, which can be incredibly valuable when it comes to improving your character. Keep in mind, however, that you’ll only unlock the Godlike Ability if you watch the memory in full. Indeed, telling the Voice to leave you alone, or otherwise ignoring the Voice, will result in no reward being given. So, make sure to stay patient - it’s often worth it!
Of course, while Ancient Memories are a great way to improve your character’s skills in Avowed, they’re not the only way to make the game a little easier. In fact, there are even ways to improve your game without focusing on your character directly - and setting up your game with private Avowed hosting is one such example. This provides full access to your server’s settings plus 24/7 uptime and full DDoS protection for security, among other benefits. Thus, it’s well worth considering a private server when launching a new game for a more stable gaming experience.
Now that we’ve quickly introduced what Ancient Memories are, it’s time that we delve into where to find these memories in the game. Fortunately, Ancient Memories are pretty easy to find once you know where to look, as they don’t spawn in randomly. Instead, Ancient Memories have set locations in Avowed, meaning that you can head straight to them once you enter a new area if you so want.
The first Ancient Memory can be found in the starting region of the game, Dawnshore, at the Watcher’s Mirror. This is very close to the edge of the map boundary and is found at the end of an old bridge. The Ancient Memory unlocks the Remembrance of Kishmal ability, which is passive and increases maximum health by 10%. That’s a huge difference, especially for the early game while learning the main mechanics when every little bit of health will come in extra handy!
The second Ancient Memory in Avowed is found in Ancient Stair atop the Ranger Outpost, making it an easily visible memory. This memory provides the Remembrance of Enhekala Godlike Ability, which is similar to the previous one but boosts your max Essence by 10% rather than your max health.
The third region of the game is Shatterscarp, and this is also where you’ll find the third Ancient Memory. To find this Ancient Memory, head to the Twin Offerings Overlook, which is to the East of Thirdborn, and look beneath the large arch. Here, you should see the Ancient Memory glowing bright. After watching this memory in full, you’ll unlock the Remembrance of Nimanna, which increases your maximum stamina level by 10%.
Getting to the later game, the Restless Cavern in Galawain’s Tusks also holds an Ancient Memory, which is found just south of the Slumbering Fields. This area can be accessed either by land (albeit the trek is pretty perilous) or by swimming through the water after removing the poison during the Boundaries of Antiquity quest. After watching the memory, you’ll unlock the Remembrance of Maru, which boosts your attack damage by 10%.
As the final region in the game, The Garden also holds an Ancient Memory and provides the last Ancient Memory Godlike Ability: the Remembrance of Sapadal, a hugely powerful passive ability that regenerates your health when you’re below 50%. This is undoubtedly incredibly useful, especially going into the last act of the game.
Yes! If you find and watch all five Ancient Memories in Avowed, you’ll unlock the We Remember achievement.
The Ancient Memories in Avowed each give a Remembrance Godlike Ability. These are the Remembrance of Kishmal, Enhekala, Nimanna, Maru, and Sapadal abilities, each giving a slightly different perk.
If you’ve been looking to make the most of your explorations in Avowed, unlocking all of the Ancient Memories is incredibly important. Indeed, altogether, these not only provide a wealth of lore but also result in significant health, essence, stamina, and attack increases and allow you to regenerate when at lower health. Plus, if you manage to find all five, you’ll also unlock the We Remember achievement! Definitely worth doing, then.
