Not all modifications are created for the public eye. Some are merely made to appease the satisfaction of one person. In this case, that’s exactly what we have here. Ultimate Alchemy wasn’t made to try and make the world happy. It wasn’t done to promote a bright idea of what the fanbase can do. It was made, in the words of the developer, to fit their “personal tastes”. So if that bothers you, you might as well turn back now. If it doesn’t, then you’re in for a good time.
You begin on an island, surrounded by a void. It is then up to you to try and survive, to try and flourish in a challenging environment. There is no instruction manual, there is no hand holding. This modification pack was created assuming that you understand mods, and that you know how they all work. There is nothing to teach you how to work the pack, because you should already know.
In a way, this is incredibly liberating. You don’t have to listen to tutorials, you don’t have to worry about whether or not you’re going to get a boring explanation about how things work. When you really think about it, this is probably the most challenging way to play Minecraft. You have to work out the ins and outs of the modifications that you have installed, and you have to undertake this task without any outside help.
This is quite a small modification pack, running on 1.1 2.2. It was not designed to be very long, or even that difficult. The emphasis is more on creativity and variety. It was also designed to be an immersive experience, so you become part of the world around you, and feel quite connected to what is going on. The choices that you make and the experiences that you have will all shape how you move forward and how you progress. Everything runs very smoothly, and everything behaves exactly how you expect it to, which makes for very reliable and enjoyable gameplay.
Everything that you do, every action that you take, every choice you make will impact the world around you. It is interesting to see how such choices influence the development of your experience, because you are ultimately responsible for the type of world you wind up playing in.
In conclusion, this is a highly unique experience. It is not like a lot of conventional other experiences, because the choices that you make will dictate the way that you experience the world. The fact that this began life as somebody’s preferences when playing Minecraft means that you genuinely feel a sense of connection to the developer, this has the characteristics of a very intimate message from them to you. There is definitely a lot to experience here, all within such a short time period, and you would be wise to explore all of the different options that are available to you, if you want to have the best time playing.
