Pre-releases are the last testing stage before Mojang ships a new game drop. Minecraft 26.3 Pre-Release 2 is a vanilla build where the planned features of the 26.3 update are already in place and the focus has shifted to bug fixes and polish. Your own server lets your group explore the new content together and report issues before the full release.
A pre-release is still a test build and plugins rarely support it, so it works best as a separate test world.
You don't have to download server JARs or edit files by hand. Open the ScalaCube control panel, pick the 26.3 Pre-Release 2 version and the server installs with one click. When the stable 26.3 release arrives, switch versions from the same panel.

Visit ScalaCube's Minecraft server hosting, select Minecraft 26.3 Pre-Release 2, choose a server version and location, and create your server. You can then configure its settings in the control panel.
In the official Minecraft Launcher, enable snapshots in the Installations tab, create a profile for 26.3 Pre-Release 2 and connect with your server address.
A vanilla test server for a small group runs well on 2–3 GB of RAM.
