Okay, quick show of hands, who has played the game called Raft? It’s this survival game where you spend your entire time on a boat, trying to survive. See, that’s the basic principle, and then you have to sort of try and expand your boat, or your raft, by collecting resources that have been left to float around the ocean. It’s an interesting process, and it does have quite a few unique mechanics, and this is a modification pack that has been designed to replicate it in Minecraft. Obviously, this has varying degrees of success, but the fundamental principle remains.
Raft is a highly interesting modification pack. It does a pretty good job of replicating the game is designed to replicate, and it does this in such a way that translates nicely into the world of Minecraft. There is a realistic crafting system in place, there are limited resources, and you genuinely feel like you have to fight to survive, which is nice. You can play by yourself, or you can get some friends involved and play with them, thanks to the amazing world of Minecraft server hosting.
This specific modification pack is for 1.12.2, so you will need to make sure that you have access to enough resources to be able to use that. We personally recommend that you go in for at least 8 GB of RAM, as well as a version of Minecraft that is built for 1.12.2. The 8 GB of RAM will give you all of the necessary power that you need to get everything done, Plus it will also give you ample space and resources to begin experimenting with Raft server hosting, which is nice for anybody who wants to create their own unique experience.
So ultimately, the survival aspect of this is probably one of the better bits of it. It’s genuinely quite exciting to be stuck on a boat in the middle of nowhere with limited resources, having only your wits to survive. And having to collect random resources adds a level of difficulty to the game that may not necessarily have existed otherwise. When you have to work with random degree, you have to get a little bit more creative in regard to building and creating. Obviously, this pairs well with the survival aspect.
Raft is definitely one of those modification packs we would recommend you check out, specifically because it can be a lot of fun. You definitely need to stop and experiment with it to get the best results though. Taking the time to play the modification pack, to look at all of the different options it has on offer, and then freely checking out other styles and strategies can really be a helpful thing. It’s up to you to find the optimum results, and this can be a little bit tricky to begin with, but it does become highly worth it later on once you understand how the core mechanics of the game work.
