Does anyone remember the feeling of opening up a mod pack and being really impressed with what they see? Like you’re completely awestruck at how everything looks and from a gameplay perspective it all seems to handle well to start with. But then suddenly you’ve put 20 hours into the server, and you notice a couple of problems. You can’t farm certain resources, which makes everything that bit more difficult, and progression slows down faster than trying to swim underwater without any buffs.

So it was time for a creative solution. And for one player who calls themselves Wip, that solution was to create “Project: Infinite Technology”.

What you’re basically seeing is every material and item in the game available in industrial scale quantity. There’s almost limitless amounts of each resource to use in the server, and you can probably understand how this might give you access to some pretty stunning build ideas. Fancy making a mansion of diamond outside of Creative? Well, now you can do it without having to spend most of your free time for the entirety of college.

But what’s really interesting about what Wip has done is that they have created an element of choice. There are several mods in the game which help to simplify the life of the player - we won’t spoil what though - and you can choose to use them or you can choose not to. This presents a pretty unique twist on the standard formula, especially when it comes to gathering and accumulating endless resources.

So now that you have access to unlimited resources, what will you do? How will you play the game now that you don’t have to worry about resource management? For a lot of players, this is half the fun. The conventional rules of Minecraft have effectively gone out the window, and now you can do pretty much whatever you like, and that’s appealing. Builders and ambitious map makers, rejoice.

So there is no doubt that this is a pretty good idea. As a mod, it gives you access to industrial quantities of all of your favourite materials, which gives you a lot more in the way of building opportunities. No longer do you have to scrounge around the entire map just to find a handful of diamond ore blocks. Now, you can have everything you need is often as you need it. The questionnaires, how will you play? Will you use all of the mods to simplify your life, or will you instead do you things a little more traditionally? That is the challenge which has been afforded to every player, and that is part of the appeal. Now, you have infinite control. So why not make a server with the more installed on it today?
