Modern Skyblock: Classic is the modern version of the Skyblock mod with a twist. It’s got that classic skin which gives it a unique and retro look, even by Minecraft standards. You wouldn’t think that this kind of game could get any more retro, but there we go. We’re here in an exciting time. This is actually a reimagining of the first Skyblock in the series. You probably played 2 and 3, because that’s what most people do, but 1 has sadly not gotten the love it deserves. It’s a shame, but this sets out to correct that issue.
So there are a lot of the bigger mods which were so common here, but there are some other ones too. There is a healthy mix of them which gives people the kind of experience that will be memorable and easy to work with, and this is good because there are a lot of interesting moments which will help you to figure out what it is that you want to do with your time in the mod. Naturally there is a difficulty spike at work here but it isn’t that bad and can actually help you to push harder in the name of greater reward.
Technically, the mod performs well at 1.12.2, and you’re going to need to think about that as well as the technical specifications that are being placed on you for success. There are numerous options here and they all work incredibly well, which is nice for anyone who wants to get the best possible experiences, but this comes with requirements. You’ll need to put aside around 8 GB of RAM, as well as have a high powered CPU and computer system in place to get the most from what you’re doing here.
However, when you accept that there is an element of challenge here, you do start to find that there are numerous different mechanics in place which give you everything you could hope for in a mod pack. The difficulty spike isn’t as bad as you would think it is and this means that when it comes to getting the most from what you’re doing, all you need to do is try and trust in your own abilities. There is a tangible sense of development in the way that you progress through the world and continue to grow as a result of the experiences that you have had.
So overall, there is a definite retro scheme in play here. But it is counterbalanced by the knowledge that this is genuinely quite an impressive and interesting version of Minecraft. It may not seem like it at first, but there is a lot to appreciate here and some interesting mechanics to work with. You would be wise to explore all of the different options that are around you to make sure that you have fully grasped what is on offer, and then make sure you’ve done what you can to ensure a smooth experience.
