Manufacturing is the name of the game for this particular mod. The pack was inspired by something similar called Factorio, so if you played that game you may well see quite a few callbacks at work here. It’s easy to get lost in the incredible detail and immersive experience that takes place. But if you’re prepared to figure out what to do, then this can also be incredibly worthwhile. You’ll find that handling large amounts of resources becomes a pretty commonplace action here, so in that respect it’s well worth doing this.

Manufactio works from the basic premise that starting from a core set of tools and materials, you can have access to an incredible factory which gives you all you need to build and keep building. Progression is pretty linear in how it behaves and the mod performs - you build X to unlock Y and so on. The main joy of the game is watching your progress creep up and up and knowing that you did it all by hand without any intervention from the outside world - it’s rewarding because it’s all on you. You won’t find much in the way of hand-holding here - if you’re going to do something then you’ll do it under your own steam.

On a technical basis this performs as well as a lot of other traditional and conventional mod packs. There is something for everyone here, and it is all crammed into 1.12.2 at the time of writing. This is a very impressive mod pack which offers a lot, but at the same time there is very little in the way of problems when it comes to performance and getting the most from your experiences. It’s up to you to therefore learn how best to interact with your environment, while working within a smooth game.

The level of difficulty will increase as time goes by, eventually reaching the point where you have to really think about how you’re moving forward and the type of interactions you’re having. Increasingly hostile enemies will make sure that you think about the defences of your factories very carefully. It’s not an unfair difficulty spike, but it is present and you do have to think about it when making decisions. Otherwise, a series of bad decisions could very easily ruin the amount of work and effort you put in.

So what’s to say about Manufactio? Well obviously it’s all been put together well. Everything performs as it should and you know that when it comes to getting a good experience that you’re in the right hands. It’s easy to see why so many people choose to download this because there are a lot of interesting mechanics and options at play here. The world that you create is your own and there are no limits which is really nice. All you need to do is take the time to explore with an open mind and see what kind of fantastic options you’ve got to play with.
