Snapshot 9 is one of the later weekly builds of Minecraft 26.3. This server type runs it with the Fabric Loader, the lightweight mod loader that the modding community relies on for early access to new versions.
Late snapshots are particularly useful for mod developers: the game's code is more settled, so updating a mod now saves work once 26.3 is out. Players benefit too, as more Fabric mods tend to be available for later snapshots than early ones.
Snapshot servers are for testing. Back up often, avoid using your main world, and install only mods and a Fabric API version built for 26.3 Snapshot 9. Loading mods for an earlier snapshot can crash the server.
Installing the loader by hand isn't necessary. Select Fabric 26.3-snapshot-9 in the ScalaCube control panel and click install. The correct game version and loader are prepared automatically, and you can start uploading mods right after.

2–3 GB is usually plenty for testing.
