Enigmatica 2: Expert Skyblock is a lot like many of the conventional Skyblock experiences that you will have, but the way that you play it and the things that you do will be different even from the standard stuff. One thing that this mod pack doesn’t do is loudly proclaim itself to be a mod pack - it moves away from the idea that it has to be just that. This isn’t a lot like the Skyblock experience that you might encounter, because the difficulty spike isn’t quite so prominent. Instead, you get a sort of more relaxed experience which is nice when we consider the experiences of past endeavours.

So what makes Enigmatica 2: Expert Skyblock so enjoyable is that it is an extension of Enigmatica 2. So all of the familiar elements which made that so enjoyable are all present and correct, along with some brand new ones too. You can find that there is a lot to work with and enjoy here, which is nice. The experience is fundamentally yours to play with, and offers up a unique and enjoyable gameplay experience which is nicer than you might think and performs exceptionally well.

When we explore this from a strictly technical perspective, there is definitely a lot to appreciate here. All of the mods that are present have been well designed, and the system supports the 1.12.2 version of Minecraft. You’ll need between 7-9 GB of RAM to successfully play this at the high standard it was designed, so if you’ve got a powerful gaming PC then you’ll probably be in luck. However, it is obvious to everyone that a lot of time and effort went into the construction of this one, because everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

Now, there is still an element of challenge here, so if you’re going to try and attempt playing this you need to be prepared for that. However, the spike is not as bad as you might think it would be overall. Instead you tend to get a level of difficulty which scales according to the area you’re in and how long you’ve been playing for. It’s not necessarily unfair so much as a challenge. It can be quite rewarding as well, so if you are prepared to put the time in, then this may well become a very enjoyable mod pack for you.

So, all things considered, this is a highly engaging and very enjoyable notification pack which gives you a fair amount of challenge while at the same time creating an interesting world for you to explore. It would be wise to look at all the different options before you come to a decision, because you never know exactly how things will pan out. The whole experience is one which offers you a unique perspective when it comes to Minecraft. This is not a vanilla experience, this is a Skyblock challenge, and even though it isn’t explicitly designed to be such, there are those elements of difficulty in place.
