Once upon a time, the world came to a shimmering end. There were scores of natural disasters that swept across the planet, killing everything and everyone. But the apocalypse didn’t stop there. Rifts and portals to alternative dimensions began to open up all over the place, leaving nothing but monsters and unholy apparitions all over the realm.
That was many years ago now. In Dimension Zero, you play someone who’s living in the fallout of all of that. The few survivors are scattered all across the planet and you can find them. But whether they become friends or foes isn’t to be said right now so you need to make sure that you approach each new situation with your wits intact. Let’s see how that might play out, eh?
So the aim of Dimension Zero is survival. It’s all about making sure that you survive regardless of who you are and what you are doing. It has been very well-programmed in that regard and everything works the way it should. You don’t have to worry about whether or not things should be working because it’s clear that the dev team put a lot of time and effort into this particular mod.
From the start, you can see that you are dealing with incredible open-ended gameplay. You can choose the ending which works best for you - whether you bring peace or simply try and survive, there’s an exciting plot point or two waiting for you as a result. It may well be true that no one can tell you how to have your own survival adventure, because the gameplay experiences are so mixed and so easy to work with. You have access to whatever ending you want and the ultimate choices are your own. Don’t like the world you have? Go to a different area and see what survival mechanics are in place there.
There’s a lot to explore here and if you have the right kind of PC required to play the mod, you can see everything that is being showcased. Because of the unlimited gameplay options, no two survival experiences are ever usually the same. This makes it different from the pre-scripted events of a video game, and instead gives you the chance to craft your own horror story. Everything you’re looking for will be there and present - you just need to find it.
So is this one that we think you should test out when you’re looking for a good experience? Yeah, absolutely. The sheer variety of monsters, experiences and thrilling components make this a highly enjoyable and engaging game to sit down and try out. A lot of time and effort has clearly gone into this mod and you can see that in all of the different mechanics and custom design choices. This is nice because it’s literally just a representation of the whole “what if” conundrum. You’re put into the aftermath of the end of days and told to survive. It’ll be a challenge for sure, so are you up to it?
