Valheim’s a relatively new game. Given this, if you’re a passionate fan, you may well want to show off your love of the game through your character’s choices and equipment. To such an end, you may want to consider crafting a Horn of Celebration to really show off your passion for the game - a truly unique item that was originally introduced for this very purpose. But what is the Horn of Celebration (HoC), how do you make it, and why is the Horn of Celebration so closely tied to celebrating the game as a whole? Well, don’t fret; we’ll be answering all of these questions and more today, so buckle in as we dive deep into the charming item that is the Horn of Celebration.
Before we begin looking at how to get a Horn of Celebration in Valheim, it’s worth briefly introducing what this unique item is. At its core, the HoC is a unique variant of the basic tankard. The item was introduced following Valheim’s first year anniversary as a means for players to celebrate the game’s successes and early accomplishments. The Horn of Celebration resembles a hollowed-out silver or blue horn with a gold handle and trim and allows players to drink mead and celebrate in style.
Given its name, largely focusing on its celebratory nature, it perhaps shouldn’t surprise that the Horn of Celebration in Valheim primarily serves as a cosmetic item. This makes it an excellent item to use in your game if you’re playing in multiplayer mode with friends and want a new way to party together (and show off).
Of course, while having a Horn of Celebration is definitely a great way to show off your progress in the game, there are many other things that may be more impressive - such as launching your Valheim MP on a dedicated private server. This not only allows a much more stable gaming experience, but it also allows you full control to your server and its settings, helping customize your Valheim game to your needs. In addition to its aesthetics, the Horn of Celebration can be technically used as a weapon; with that said, it isn't particularly effective in combat. It can deal 4x backstab damage and has a knockback effect of 30, but this largely pales in comparison to many other weapons. Thus, the Horn of Celebration should largely be used as a fun addition to the game rather than a serious weapon.
By now, we’ve considered what the Horn of Celebration is - however, you may still be wondering about how to craft a Horn of Celebration in your next Valheim game. The good news is, this is pretty simple, provided you have the following basic materials:
The Horn of Celebration has a crafting and repair level of 1 each. As such, it’s incredibly easy to make at a Workbench. This then allows you to use the Horn to drink mead, which offers boosts to both your stamina and health. Don’t forget, though; a tankard or Horn of Celebration isn’t strictly necessary to drink mead.
Honestly, the Horn of Celebration isn’t the most useful item to craft in Valheim. Indeed, the Horn largely serves as a cosmetic item only, although it can technically be used as a weapon or defence (albeit not strong in either case).
The Horn of Celebration was introduced on February 24th 2022 to celebrate the game’s first year of release. This anniversary item remains craftable to this day.
The Horn of Celebration weighs a total of one carry weight. This makes it a lightweight item that’s easy to keep with you.
Technically, you can attack with the Horn of Celebration. It is classed as a one-handed item and causes 4x backstab and 30 knock back. You can also use it as a block. However, compared to many other items, it’s (unsurprisingly) not hugely effective for either purpose.
The only difference between the Horn of Celebration and a regular tankard in Valheim is the cosmetic appearance. Both items have the same function, and both are completely optional; in fact, you can even drink mead freely without needing a tankard of any description.
The Horn of Celebration might not be the most useful item in Valheim, but it’s undoubtedly a fun tool to have access to, especially for parties and celebrations. As such, if you have the resources, and especially if you’re playing in multiplayer mode, crafting a Horn of Celebration might be worthwhile.
