As a peaceful farming simulation game, Stardew Valley has additional content that players can enjoy. There’s nothing more interesting than exploring the dungeons. Aside from finding the rare crafting materials, you may expect to fight a lot of enemies. To be able to defeat them, you will eventually need to learn about the Stardew Valley combat.
The combat in this game might look simple at first, especially when all the players can do is click the attack button until the enemy dies. However, as the enemies grow tougher as you make progress in the game, you will also need to learn more about advanced combat. In this guide, we want to share with you some advanced combat tips you should learn in Stardew Valley.
Cook More Often
Aside from learning about the combat in Stardew Valley, one important thing that you need to remember is to make a lot of preparation. Before going into the Mines or Skull Cavern, it would be better to bring some restorative items to make you survive better.
The players can replenishing their health with foods obtained from the general store or cooking. We would prefer the latter one as it’s cheaper and may provide you with additional perks.
To start cooking, you will have to unlock the kitchen first. You may need to have some gold and collect other materials to build that. Once it’s established, you may cook some dishes using the available recipes.
There are some dishes worth cooking, such as Crab Cakes, Eggplant Parmesan, and Pumpkin Soup. Crab Cakes can grant you +1 Speed, +1 Defense, +101 Health, and +225 Energy. Meanwhile, Eggplant Parmesan may provide you with +1 Mining skills, +3 Defense, +175 Energy, and +78 Health.
Additionally, you can cook some other dishes that can greatly restore your health and energy, such as Fried Mushroom and Roots Platter. Having some dishes in your inventory is beneficial to support Stardew’s combat as they can help a lot during desperate situations.
Weapon Enchantments
To make yourself better at combat in Stardew, you must equip stronger weapons. Aside from getting them from the guild and chests, you can increase their damage and speed further using the enchantments.
Similar to the other RPGs, one can enchant their weapons with additional features or perks. But first, you will need to access the dungeon, where you can start enchanting your weapons. The place, in particular, is the Volcano Dungeon located in Ginger Island.
After unlocking the island, you will have to explore it a bit until you can find the dungeon entrance. There, you will need to go to level 10 of the dungeon to find The Forge. Forging or enchanting weapons in this location will grant them additional bonuses, such as increased speed, more damage, and better critical hit chance.
To enchant a weapon, you will need to collect 20x Cinder Shard and 1x Prismatic Shard. Although all of these seem good, there’s a catch. All the enchantment effects are randomized. So, luck is always involved in this process.
You can use 1x Prismatic Shard to get a new enchantment if you don’t like the previous one. As there are so many enchantments available in the game, we highly recommend the ones that can be useful to increase weapon damage, such as Crusader, which adds 50% more damage against skeletons, ghosts, mummies, and void spirits.
Obtaining The Warrior Ring
One of the useful Stardew Valley advanced tips is to get better equipment. These are useful to improve survivability. Aside from the armor, you can collect the rings to grant you additional combat bonuses.
One ring in particular that you should look for is the Warrior Ring. This ring may grant you the upper hand due to its positive effect. It will give you the Warrior Energy buff, a buff that lasts 5 seconds, which will be triggered with slaying a creature.
When activated, this buff will add you +10 attacks. To get this OP ring, you will have to reach Level 4 of Combat, which isn’t terribly hard. In the early game, the ring is really useful as you will need a damage buff to beat the stronger enemies.
Gain Access to The Adventurer’s Guild
Before you start increasing the level of SDV combat, one important thing you should do is to join the Adventurer’s Guild. To unlock it, you will have to reach level 10 of the Mines while defeating some slimes there.
By gaining access to the guild, you can get the rewards by killing some enemies. You can see the list right beside Marlo, one NPC that stands behind the counter. Defeating some enemies may grant you interesing rewards, including extra experience, better weapons, and rings.
Additionally, you can also shop for better equipment in the guild. There are some powerful early swords you can collect to make your character better.
Increasing The Combat Levels
You will need to increase the combat levels to get better professions at Level 5 and Level 10. There is a moment when you should pick between the Stardew Valley Defender or Brute, two of the most useful professions in the game.
To increase the levels, you should visit the dungeons more often and defeat as many enemies as you can. To make the process quicker, you can always play with your friends. Many players want to play with friends privately, which is the purpose of private servers.
