Stardew Valley JojaMart Guide
Have you ever wanted to learn more JojaMart in Stardew Valley? Whether you support Joja’s cost-cutting cause or if you think that Stardew Valley would be better off sticking with Piere’s store and kicking the corporates out, there’s a lot more to this company than you might have realized. In line with this thought, today, we’re taking a deep dive into the Stardew Valley JojaMart—and Morris, its manager—to help you understand the unique position of this brand in the community.
What is Joja in Stardew Valley?
Before we go any further, we should first start by clarifying what, exactly, Joja (or JojaMart) is in Stardew Valley. Simply put, JojaMart is a large store that is owned by the Joja Corporation and managed by Morris, who lives in Pelican Town while the store is open. However, Morris will move out of Pelican Town if the JojaMart closes, which is worth keeping in mind.
Where is the JojaMart Located in Pelican Town?
JojaMart is located to the far East of Pelican Town, being found on the large area of land to the East of the main town river. JojaMart is also located to the North of both Clint’s blacksmith shop and the Pelican Town Library.
It’s worth noting that, as the game progresses, there is the potential for JojaMart to build a warehouse in Pelican Town. If this happens, the new warehouse is built within the old community center, which is located to the North of the main town (and to the North East of the Joja store itself).
What Does JojaMart Sell?
JojaMart generally sells many of the same items as Pierre’s store, including seeds, furniture, home decor, and even some cooking ingredients. The available choice of seeds will vary depending on the season and are as follows:
- Spring:
- Parsnips (25g)
- Beans (75g)
- Cauliflowers (100g)
- Potatoes (62g)
- Tulips (25g)
- Kale (87g)
- Jazz (37g)
- Grass starter (125g)
- Summer:
- Tomatoes (62g)
- Peppers (50g)
- Wheat (12g)
- Radishes (50g)
- Melons (100g)
- Hops (75g)
- Poppies (125g)
- Spangles (62g)
- Sunflowers (125g)
- Grass starter (125g)
- Fall:
- Corn (187g)
- Eggplants (25g)
- Pumpkins (125g)
- Amaranth (87g)
- Grapes (75g)
- Yams (75g)
- Bok choy (62g)
- Cranberries (300g)
- Sunflowers (125g)
- Fairy plants (250g)
- Wheat (12g)
- Grass starter (125g)
As experienced players of Stardew Valley may have noticed, the base prices for seeds at JojaMart are actually higher than at Pierre’s store, the only exception being sunflower seeds. This seems to contradict the claim made by many of the village residents that JojaMart is cheaper; however, this may be because the Joja Membership lowers most product prices. Once the player has purchased a JojaMart Membership, the prices will fall to match Pierre’s prices.
What are the Benefits of Shopping With JojaMart?
There are several key benefits of shopping with JojaMart that are worth keeping in mind:
- Joja is open for longer than Pierre’s: As you might expect with a supermarket, Joja’s store has good opening times. As such, you can shop between 9am and 11pm, and Joja doesn’t have a day when it is closed. In contrast, Pierre’s is only open between 10am and 5pm, and critically, it is closed on Wednesdays—making it very impractical when you need new seeds.
- JojaMart allows you to pay for developments: Completing all of the Community Center bundles can be a major chore, and this also requires at least one year’s worth of gameplay to progress through all four months. Contrastingly, completing upgrades with the Joja Community Development Form can be completed much more easily—provided you have the money, of course!
What are the Risks of Shopping with JojaMart?
While shopping with JojaMart can offer a number of benefits, it’s not necessarily a quick decision, since there are also several drawbacks to keep in mind. Some of the main issues that come with buying your seeds or ingredients from Joja over Pierre’s include the following points:
- Joja’s prices are usually higher. Until you have purchased a Joja Membership, you’ll have to pay more for your seeds at JojaMart than at Pierre’s. This is true for all but a few products.
- The selection of seeds is smaller with JojaMart: There are numerous seeds sold at Pierre’s that are never available in JojaMart, such as garlic, blueberries, artichokes, red cabbage, and rice. In addition, you can only purchase corn seeds from Joja in the fall, whereas these can also be planted and sown in the summer at Pierre’s.
- JojaMart does not sell any fruit tree saplings: Whereas Pierre’s sells a range of fruit tree saplings, these are never available at JojaMart, limiting the range of crops you can grow.
- Completing developments with Joja is expensive: If you decide to go down the JojaMart route rather than completing the Community Center, be prepared for a lot of expenses to complete the town’s projects—135,000g for the main projects themselves plus 5,000g for the Joja Membership, and a further 500,000g to eventually build the movie theater in town.

FAQs
If you choose to go down the JojaMart route in Stardew Valley, Pierre’s store will close and the old Community Center will be turned into a Joja Warehouse. This will prevent you from being able to complete the Community Center, and you will have to pay for community upgrades instead.
JojaMart is often perceived to be evil by Stardew Valley players, but this isn’t entirely the case. Their motives are self-centered and focus on making a profit, even at the expense of the town’s small businesses; however, it is worth noting that they also make a positive difference to the town in that villagers express they are able to afford food more easily through JojaMart. However, Joja is nevertheless usually still considered the main antagonist of the game.
The JojaMart route doesn’t prevent players from accessing Ginger Island. However, you will still need to get the boat repaired before you can travel to Ginger Island.
Surprisingly, even if you side with Joja, you can still get help from the Junimos on your farm by purchasing a Junimos Hut from the Wizard. The Junimos will then harvest your crops and store them within the hut, making it much easier to harvest your crops. This is particularly useful when crops are inaccessible due to a trellis.
Final Thoughts
Joja might be seen as the main antagonist of Stardew Valley, but their presence in Pelican Town can no doubt still be handy. As such, considering what they offer and how siding with Joja might impact your gameplay can be incredibly useful when deciding which route you’d like to go down.
