How to Tame Alpaca in Soulmask
The Soulmask world has up to five species of mount. Of these species, the Alpaca is the easiest to tame and breed. They have more stamina and maximum weight than your character, which makes them the perfect travel buddy when carrying heavy loot. However, finding and taming Alpaca in Soulmask can be challenging since they won't normally spawn at your base. Here is everything about finding and taming these animals so you can start traveling in grand style.
How to Find Alpaca in Soulmask
Before taming an Alpaca, you will have to find one first. Now, Alpaca spawns randomly in the Soulmask world, but two locations in the game have a better chance of having them. These locations are;
- The Claw Tribe camp (Barbarian Barracks)
- The Flint Tribe camp (Barbarian Barracks)
Both locations are northwest of the original spawn point, but they are not a friendly zone. On the other hand, if you don't want to steal an Alpaca from either of these camps, then you can trap one in the forest and take it to your base.
Stealing Alpaca from Camps
After arriving at any of these camps, break the gate and invade the base. You will find the Alpaca inside the enclosures, then approach one of the baby Alpaca and press E to pick it up. Be careful of the mother Alpaca since they can be spooky sometimes. Defeat the enemies before entering the enclosures because they can light a bonfire, and things will get messy while you try to escape with the baby Alpaca. Alternatively, if you have already carried the baby Alpaca, drop it down, then kill the enemies before picking it up again. The Alpaca in this location always respawns, so you can always come back to the location for more babies.
Using Traps to Catch Alpaca in the Wild
While the first method is one of the easiest ways of finding an Alpaca early on in the game, it may not satisfy some players. The second option involves using a medium trap to catch this animal. From our experience, you can find wild Alpacas in the highland area just above the mysterious portal close to the starting point. However, you have to first unlock the trap mechanism under Animal Breeding and craft the medium trap with some logs. Similar to how to trap other animals like monkeys, you have to set a bait inside the trap.
Corns are the best bait for these animals. We will see other baits in the latter part of this post. A skill that can help your search is the Life Perception skill, which allows you to see all living creatures in your location. Immediately you spot any Alpacas, enter stealth mode and set the traps near the baby Alpaca. Place the bait and leave the region. Once it enters the trap and the door closes, interact with the trap and click on Capture. Carry the animal back to your base and tame it.
Taming Alpaca in Soulmask
After taking the Alpaca to your base, put the animal in a fenced region to ensure it doesn't stray. Now, it is time to take care of and nurture the baby Alpaca until it is fully grown. These animals need food and water to grow, so ensure you provide them with enough of it and create water and feed troughs at your base. Although corn is its main food, other substances it can eat include;
- Alpaca Feed
- Refined Alpaca Feed
- Potato
- Peanut
- Pineapple
- Banana
- Quinoa
- Thatch
Just like in real-life situations, there must be a constant feeding habit during this period to ensure it grows well. Players can monitor the development status of their animal with the tab that monitors its stats. After some time, the baby Alpaca will become mature, and then you can mount it.
How to Mount an Alpaca in Soulmask
As with other tamed animals like Tigers, to mount and ride an Alpaca in Soulmask, you will need to craft an Alpaca Saddle. The only way to obtain one is to open your Technology Tree tab, and from the selection named “Dawn of the New Tribe,” look for Leather Gear and Saddlecraft. When your Alpaca reaches its maximum growth level, do these to ride the Alpaca: First, craft the Saddle using these items;
- Ten Leather Rope
- Ten Coarse Cotton,
- Ten Normal Leather
You craft this item using the Armor Forging Table. Apply the Saddle manually and climb up on the Alpaca.
