Map Overview and Access
The map, made by Core Keeper, displays all the places you have explored in the current game with the chosen character. Utilise the map by either pressing "M" on your keyboard or using the map icon located at the bottom right corner of your screen. Also, there is a mini-map in the upper right corner, always at sight, which shows your position and the surroundings in which you are located.
As you play, the map will begin to fill with further information, such as active Portals and bosses, if you have activated their respective scanners. This guiding process eases movement through different stages of the game while maintaining focus on key objectives.
Using the Cartography Table
One of the unique features of Core Keeper is the Cartography Table, which allows players to merge maps. This can be very useful in multiplayer settings when you can combine exploration data with other players to make sure everyone always has the newest information about the game world.
Map Symbols and Markers
The map is populated with various symbols and markers that indicate important locations and items. For example:
Boss Symbols: Every boss has a different symbol showing on the map once his respective scanner is activated. Some of these bosses include Ghorm the Devourer, The Hive Mother, and Azeos the Sky Titan, to mention but a few.
Markers—Players can place custom markers on the map by performing a mouse-wheel click on the full-screen map. These markers point to everything that might be of interest, from the Core at the world's centre to an active Portal for teleportation.
Exploring the Game World
The design of Core Keeper is very much similar to that of its biome-centric world design. The map starts with The Core at the centre, then stretches out into areas that include The Forgotten Ruins, Azeos' Wilderness, The Sunken Sea, and The Desert of Beginnings. All these biomes come with their own unique landmarks and challenges that are really going to be critical in your progress.
This map can be opened with the "M" key on your keyboard or using the left mouse button on the map icon at the bottom right corner of the screen.
As you advance, the map will display additional details such as active Portals and bosses, provided their scanners are activated.
You can place markers by clicking the mouse wheel on the fullscreen map. These markers can help you keep track of important locations and do not disappear automatically.
The Cartography Table allows you to combine maps with other players, which is useful for sharing exploration data in multiplayer sessions.
