There are countless different quests in Avowed, and while some are pretty simple, others can be a lot more confusing. In line with this thought, knowing how to tackle each quest can really help, and fortunately, we’ve summarized some of the key things you should know in today’s brief guide to help you complete the Cabin Fever Quest more easily in your own game.
Before you can begin working through the Cabin Fever quest, you’ll first need to actually take it - and luckily, the Cabin Fever quest is available almost at the start of the game. So, shortly after you’ve made your Avowed dedicated server, you’ll be able to get involved with this short and simple side quest.
To take it, start by heading up the slope from the Paradis docks. You will find Dehengen, a blonde haired woman with a bun, who believes she has been placed under a curse due to experiencing a series of concurrent bad events. After you take the quest, she’ll then provide you with a key to her cabin, which can be found on a cliff to the North West.
Once you have accepted the quest and received the cabin key from Dehengen, you can begin the quest itself. Fortunately, this is a pretty simple quest to complete, although our guide will help you understand more about how to progress to help you complete the quest more quickly.
First, as you may have figured by now, it’s important to head to Dehengen’s house, which you should now have the key to. To find this location, head up to the Fractured Shore and scale the slope, where you should then find a narrow path. Jump over this; you should then find a Xaurip Camp, which leads to a wooden bridge over a large chasm. Head up to the front door and use Dehengen’s key to unlock it; be prepared to face several more Xaurips in the main room! Be sure to loot the small chest on the right corner of the room before heading to the table, where you’ll find Dehengen’s journal.
After reading Dehengen’s journal, head into the other room and interact with the crude wall painting, to which Kai (as a companion) will ask you what it means. It doesn’t actually matter what you answer, as he will always suggest you return to Dehengen to ask about it.
Once you’ve reached Dehengen again, you can ask her about what you found in the journal and the wall art. She explains that an astromancer explained to her that she only has half of a soul. It is her belief that the other half of her soul is trapped within a Xaurip. As such, you will need to decide whether you encourage Dehengen to embrace the Xaurip or to stop her from trying to converse with it.
At this point, all that’s left to do is either to encourage or to dissuade Dehengen from engaging with the Xaurip. You can tell her to spend some time with the Xaurip, or alternatively, you can select any other option to stop her from engaging with the creature.
The exact reward you get from the quest varies depending on the option you choose. The “do not engage” approach yields 1exp more. However, encouraging her to speak with the Xaurip will also get you a unique item: the Vindictive Band, which adds poison to critical hits.
The Cabin Fever quest is given to you by Dehengen in Avowed, who can be found up the slope from the Paradis docks. As such, the quest can be taken early on in the game.
The reward for completing the Cabin Fever quest in Avowed varies depending on the final conclusion you choose. If you discourage Dehengen from talking with the Xaurip, you will just receive 292exp. However, if you tell her to spend time with the Xaurip, you’ll get 291exp as well as a Vindictive Band.
Cabin Fever is a side quest in Avowed, meaning that it is not a direct part of the main story. The quest does not impact your final game outcome.
Encouraging Dehengen is generally considered a better option as it yields one less exp but also gives the Vindictive Ring.
If you’ve been looking to streamline your gameplay, knowing how to approach different quests is paramount. Fortunately, the Cabin Fever Quest is an incredibly easy one to take on in the early game once you know where to start, and following today’s simple tips could help.
