The 1.14.4 update of Minecraft was a very large one, which was released to spectacular reception all the way back in 2019. On April 23, an experimental update to Minecraft was released, which became as commonplace as any of the other fundamental game mechanics.
There were hundreds of subtle changes and bug fixes which went on inside the update, but primarily, the update was all about the villages.
Villages have been a core part of Minecraft for many years now. They are away in which people can get access to unique resources and trade with friendly mobs called villagers.
This update focused primarily on the villages, and offered a broad collection of new characters to inhabit the dwellings. This meant that there were both friendly and hostile mobs now roaming the world of Minecraft that resembled villagers.
From a purely texture based perspective, there were also updates which meant that the village would match the biome it was located in. For example, a desert village would now have sandstone in its construction, to reflect the local surroundings.
Furthermore, the update also saw the introduction of new blocks and mobs, as well as a revamp and overhaul of the crafting system. Certain blocks had functionalities changed, foxes were added into the game, berries were added into the game, and there was now the ability to get access to a bamboo forest jungle, which had pandas, bamboo, and also other unique elements.
It was also the case that Minecraft 1.14.4 was home to something called the Texture Update, which meant that you could completely retexture certain items in the game for a unique perspective.
The update was released to considerable success. A new level of depth was added to the game, because it now meant that you could access both friendly and hostile villager mobs.
It is worth noting that the hostile mobs that were introduced into the game would primarily go on to be featured heavily in structures known as mansions. These contained a wide selection of rare items to collect, but the entire population of said mansion was composed of hostile mobs, who would attack and kill the player with no provocation. It also would come to mean that players could venture into these locations if they were brave enough, but usually it required a full set of armour and considerable weaponry in order to survive for more than a few moments.
So, in conclusion, the update for 1.14.4 was a success. It showcases that Minecraft could provide a very well done and easy to work with system, and meant the villages were not always the safe havens that they once were. The level of complexity which was added into the game with this update was welcomed because it gave people the best possible choices and game mechanics. Villagers were now potentially dangerous, so players had to think twice before they interacted with them.
