Most people by now know all about Pixelmon. It’s like Pokemon but in the hallowed halls of Minecraft. You can probably imagine that this gives it quite a lot of props, especially for crossover fans who like both franchises and want to experience something completely different with their experiences. This is something specifically made by the Madhouse community and it offers a highly unique and engaging experience, so let’s take a look at it in a little more detail and see what’s going on.
So we’ve all played Pixelmon at this point. It replicates the Pokemon experience but in the world of blocks and crafting - you get a starter Pokemon and then you move forward in your journey to be the very best like no one ever was, and in that regard this does very well. A lot of familiar Pokemon and items from that world are all here, but they have a Minecraft vibe to them which is nice, and you’ll be exploring the familiar forests, plains and mountains as you travel one from place to the next. It’s like going on a Pokemon adventure but in Minecraft, which is seriously cool when you think about it.
The pack has been designed for the 1.12.2 version at time of writing, and is a spin-off from the actual Pixelmon universe. You’ll need to get your hands on Pixelmon 7.2.0 to play this - it acts as a suppository for this and isn’t the whole game in a nutshell. But that’s not difficult to find these days - Pixelmon is a pretty conventional game to play in the modern world and download links for it are dotted all around. Just make sure that you have downloaded everything correctly, install it and you’ll be ready to play.
Being able to go on your own Pokémon journey is incredibly rewarding. You can explore and catch Pokémon depending on your preferences, and there is no limitation to the team that you can assemble and the power are you can amass. It’s very rewarding to build a team and watch it grow stronger, as you form attachments to all of the Pokémon you have befriended. The world itself encourages exploration, and rewards you for taking the time to hunt around. The difficulty spike isn’t too steep either, so long as you understand how the core mechanics work.
So at the end of the day, going on this Pokemon adventure is a breeze thanks to this addition to the Pixelmon universe. You can see all of the different options at work as soon as you step into the world. It is impressive how the magic of Pokemon has been appropriately transferred into the world of Minecraft. As soon as you step into the world, you see just how much everything has been well-built and easy to use. There are so many different mechanics here and they all play a role in creating a universe which is easy to explore and highly engaging - definitely give this a try.
